Mulberry Bush Day Nursery, Mulbarton, are looking for an Early Years SendCo to join our friendly, child‑centred team. We are seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with SEND, helping them to achieve their full potential. As the SendCo you will play a key role in leading inclusive practice within the setting.
We pride ourselves on the relationships we have with our families, and as part of the SendCo role you would be expected to continue to develop these. The role would involve working closely with children, families and other professionals. We are looking for someone who has a friendly and approachable disposition who enjoys the opportunity for new challenges.
The SendCo needs to have a strong knowledge of child development & the EYFS and the ability to identify additional needs early. The SendCo needs to work within the SEND code of practice guidelines and be confident in their knowledge of SEND legislation and processes such as EHCP annual reviews and the graduated approach.
You will work closely with both of our deputy SendCo’s and the manager and deputy. As the SendCo you are also a valued member of our senior team, involved in action planning with a particular focus on our inclusive provision. There will also be periods of time where you will be a ‘named person’, overseeing the daily running of the nursery when the manager, deputy manager or lead practitioner are off site. For this reason, it is essential that you already have experience of leading a team.
Mulberry Bush is a full day care setting, open from 8am-6pm, Monday‑Friday, 51 weeks a year for children aged 6 months to 5 years. It is a thriving and popular nursery with an excellent reputation for high quality care and education and a genuine commitment to inclusion and working in partnership with families.
The position is full‑time and you must be available for 8am-6pm shifts, 4 days a week. We are an all year round – not a ‘term‑time only’ provider. Applicants must hold a full and relevant level 3 or higher early years qualification. The expectation is that you will also hold a Level 3 Send qualification although for the right applicant this qualification can be supported once employed.
The role is a mixture of working in rooms directly with children and being office based to complete paperwork. Mulberry Bush is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
