The role of the Merchandiser is to maximize profitability within their scope by ensuring MUJI stores in Europe are stocked with the right products at the right time. This includes planning, forecasting, business analysis, and inventory management. In parallel, they support junior colleagues in their roles and cover for the Head of Merchandising when necessary.

  • Assortment Management: Plan, build, present, and validate semi-annual assortment plans for assigned categories with the Store Management and Visual Merchandiser Manager.
  • Stock and Sales Management: Establish optimized allocation plans to meet store needs. Adjust sales, stock, markdown, and replenishment forecasts for weekly meetings and update monthly documents. Ensure replenishment levels reflect sales performance and stores have the right stock levels. Ensure timely launch of new items. Guarantee maximum availability of permanent products. Ensure seasonal permanent items are removed from sale and relaunched on time. Analyse and report weekly sales performance, proposing profit-oriented solutions. Forecast monthly warehouse inventory: monitor incoming and outgoing flows. Coordinate with Allocators and the Logistics team to ensure full and timely product delivery to warehouses. Collaborate with other departments to facilitate sales in franchise stores and third-party partners.
  • Teamwork: Advise and support team members in their development. Train team members if needed. Work proactively and autonomously to improve team processes and efficiency. Cover for the Head of Merchandising in internal and external meetings if necessary. Help implement models and processes for the team to improve standardization and efficiency.
