Purpose
Reporting to the Logistics Manager and General Warehouse Manager, the Logistics Supervisor’s role will be to support their line Manager to help supervise, delegate, and assist in the maintenance of all stock and systems within the warehouse; maintain an up to date knowledge of stock sales, stock holdings and stock returns using the Company’s reports; identify and use available reports to remain commercial and maximize the use of storage space within the warehouse; to communicate fully with the management team relaying all stock quality or quantity problems; to help maintain accurate levels of stock replenishment levels and report any discrepancies in the warehouse and to encourage and promote “handle with care” treatment of all products.
Role and responsibilities
- Delivery
- To run delivery shift, delegating the specific tasks to be accomplished by staff.
- To oversee and partake in the checking in all delivery invoices ensuring they are filed for reference.
- To guarantee the timely notification of any shortage/overage of stock that occurred during delivery. Fill out correct correspondence and report to the Logistics team and General Warehouse Manager.
- Inbound
- Managing all inventory and locating them in a timely manner to ensure a smooth warehouse operation.
- Managing and assisting in unloading of deliveries.
- Outbound
- Arranging transportation for delivery of parcels to customers.
- Communicating with various third-party delivery companies to arrange the collection of goods.
- Managing and assisting in the loading of trucks.
- Systems
- Maintain awareness of all stock transfers, check they are processed in the interface and approved by the manager.
- To keep warehouse and storage tubs in an organized manner, communicating information to all personnel.
- Maintain responsibility for the protection and upkeep of all products ensuring minimal stock loss and write-offs.
- Communicate with the store management team.
- Write-Offs
- To aid the manager in the identification of faulty goods for write-off purposes.
- Support the management team with making the staff aware of all deliveries and stock systems.
- Reports and Levels
- To remain conversant with all the reports working with management and merchandising team to ensure stock levels are appropriate for the commercial good.
- Assisting in twice-yearly stock takes.
- Security
- Responsible for running twice-yearly stock take.
- To aid the management team with regard to the general security of stock.
- Ensure an incident report is filled in to record any delivery discrepancies or unusual occurrences.
- Take responsibility for security of the warehouse as well as stock and liaise with the General Warehouse Manager and Area Manager over potential problems.
- Health & Safety
- Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy at all times.
- To aid the management team with all aspects of health and safety communicating any potential problems.
- Ensure “manual handling” best practice is carried out at all times in the store.
- Ensure all fire exits are clear at all times.
- Ensure cleaning down of all the equipment after use is done.
- Ensure social distancing is maintained where necessary with the warehouse.
- General
- Flexibility to work varied hours including late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
Knowledge and skills
- Highly organized with the ability to adapt quickly to strategic change.
- Self-starter, who takes the initiative.
- Motivated to achieve and exceed goals.
Education and experience
- Previous experience in Logistics or Stock managing deliveries.
- Use of pump trucks.
Additional information
- May be requested to work in other UK locations from time to time.
- Responsible for the logistics team - sorting of deliveries, stock transfers, and Stock management and Location management.
- Skills required: the ability to use Microsoft Excel.
