OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

The GCIB Financial Institutions (FI) Coverage Team leads relationship coverage for Financial Institutions across EMEA. As part of the EMEA FI Strategy, the team has responsibility to expand business with Financial Institutions by collaborating with various stakeholders from the Bank, MUFG Securities (MUSE) and MUTB (Investor Services, Asset Management & Trust Bank) under the One MUFG approach.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This role will form an integral part of the FI Specialty Lenders and Banks team, with a view to achieving high quality revenue growth and product cross sell from this client base directly contributing to one of the key pillars of the EMEA FI Strategy. This position will be focussed on complex NBFI and Bank client relationships in the UK, with the principal focus on Specialist Non-Bank Lenders, large bank groups (UK and International) and select wealth managers. Responsibility for working as a part of team in growing the client base and realizing targeted growth across the UK NBFI and Banks markets.

Banks include Central Banks, Commercial/Investment banks and Broker-dealers. Specialist lenders will initially include, but will not be limited to, UK mortgage lenders, credit cards and consumer lenders and auto loan & inventory finance companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing relationships with complex NBFI clients as a priority, including identification of new business opportunities and ongoing day-to-day relationship requirements.
  • Self-confident with the ability to lead client meetings and arrange follow-ups with key product stakeholders.
  • Accountable for producing account plans for key clients, working with senior coverage and product partners to determine relationship strategy and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for working with key product teams such as (but not limited to) Securitised products, Markets (FX and rates), Trade Finance, Financing solutions to support the origination of new transactions and manage all client related activities.
  • Support and assistance in managing live deals processes (e.g. approval, documentation, signing, drawdowns) within the function, working alongside other members of the deal team in ensuring that documents are further actioned as appropriate for the bank – legal docs including ISDA/CSA, MRPA etc.
  • Accountability, alongside MD of the team, to identify and understand client needs to develop client strategies for new product solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate engagement and support to develop, secure and maximise multi-product client relationships.
  • Analyse industry and financial drivers to ensure new and existing business has an appropriate risk profile, including working closely with credit risk colleagues.
  • Accountable for own development. To show responsibility to maintain and develop a knowledge base of regulatory issues and industry developments.
  • Drive delivery of thought leadership and insights to internal stakeholders and clients on sector trends and new market opportunities.
  • Responsible in building relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental and cross-regional collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and review work of more junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Help to build deeper industry and product knowledge across the team.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Minimum 2-3 year track record of managing FIG client relationships, ideally across Non-bank Financial Institutions primarily (including Speciality Lenders, Wealth managers, Broker dealers etc), with further understanding of Bank FIs as minimum.
  • Understanding of core banking and securities products, including FX, Loans, Deposit, Trade Finance, Securitisation, DCM, Rates & Repos etc.

  • Proven experience and interest in UK NBFI sector, including related products.
  • Commercial acumen, pitching and negotiation skills.
  • Interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Knowledge and skill working with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.

Education / Qualifications:
