Overview
As Vice President in MUFG's EMEA FLRC, you lead and develop a risk-focused team to provide first-line oversight across Corporate Banking Operations and Global Markets Operations. You will drive the Operational Risk Management Framework, risk assessments, and control effectiveness, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational resilience. You’ll partner with Compliance, Internal Audit, and business leaders to embed risk-aware decision making across the region. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a diverse risk professionals team with clear objectives aligned to department goals
- Provide independent first-line risk oversight across EMEA Corporate Banking Operations and Global Markets Operations
- Review risk assessments and maintain a regional view of exposures and emerging risks
- Drive the Risk Management Framework across EMEA Operations; facilitate RCSA and oversee control inventories
- Conduct control assurance reviews, analyze deficiencies, and support QA initiatives
- Oversee operational incident management, including root cause analysis and remediation tracking
- Produce risk and control MI for senior management and governance forums with thematic analyses
- Act as liaison with ORM, Compliance, Financial Crime, Internal Audit; support regulatory reviews and change initiatives
- Provide risk/control oversight for transformation, technology, and process changes; support resilience planning
- Build relationships with Operations leadership and control functions; influence outcomes through effective communication
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in Operational Risk or First Line Risk & Control in global financial services
- Knowledge of Corporate Banking Operations and Global Markets Operations risk environments
- Proven track record implementing ORM frameworks (RCSA, KRIs, issue management) in regulated settings
- Experience overseeing/challenging risks, controls, incidents, and remediation in complex regional/global models (EMEA preferred)
- People management and coaching experience
- Strong operational risk/Banking Operations risk management skills (controls testing, governance, issue management)
- Analytical skills with understanding of processes and products
- Excellent written and verbal communication; stakeholder management; proficiency in PowerPoint/PowerBI/MS Excel/Word
- Degree or equivalent work experience; additional risk/operations qualifications advantageous
- Calm under pressure with attention to detail and strong numerical, accountability, and interpersonal skills
