Corporate Banking Department (London) is a front office function responsible for business development of customers located in United Kingdom and other demarcated countries in EMEA of which their ultimate parents are Japanese Corporates. Corporate Banking Department (London) is in charge of overall customer relationships and covers the following tasks:

  • Achieving BSC Profit Target assigned to the Department
  • Acquire our profit by offering MUFG products and services to clients, through the collaboration with the Primary Offices.
  • Discover the seeds of future profits and monetize them with Product Offices’ support
  • Maximize our profit through close communications with MUFG affiliates within/outside the region
  • Building up Short-term and Mid-Long term account strategies on customers and execute them in due course
  • Support Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA on developing Division’s strategy planning
  • Always improve Department’s customer base through necessary customer replacements
  • Contribute MUFG wide business expansion for our customers
  • Offer and introduce new products and services for future profits
  • Create high leveled credit / borrower rating applications through prudent and accurate credit analysis
  • Analyze Department’s credit portfolio and report to the management
  • Lead the Department in building up adequate Risk Ownership framework
  • Follow Compliance related rules
  • Contribute profit increases at other MUFG offices
  • Support and enhance better management/controls at other MUFG offices within the region

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To ensure the administration of all internal requirements which assist business promotion activities and support the management to deliver efficient Japanese corporate banking business operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the day-to-day administrative work associated with Japanese Corporate Banking Division (JCBD)’s internal control requirements, such as pending controls, updating credit condition information in CIMS, SOX testing and self-inspection etc., to ensure there are no breaches of any internal rules or procedures.
  • Actively contribute to ad-hoc projects within JCBD in order to improve processes and operational efficiency not only for London but for the region.
  • Create, update and submit internal reports to relevant divisions in Head Quarter e.g. Asset Evaluation and Assessment of Loans and Other Credits, VIE reporting etc., in a timely manner liaising with stakeholders to ensure the reporting requirements are satisfied.
  • Maintain and update the content in JCBD’s VIE Manual, Action Plan Manual etc. to ensure the division’s processes and procedures for business promotion are documented and current at all times.
  • Overview and control day-to-day administrative works in the department to support Head of Division and Department Head to assist with the effective and efficient running of the department.
  • Train and educate junior staff in the Division to improve his/her skills and to strengthen the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships across the division and other departments/branches in EMEA including Head Office to enable greater co-ordination of activities and aid collaborative working.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

Preferred: Basic knowledge in wide range of banking products, Work experience in a financial institution with understanding and experience in Japanese corporate banking business, Previous experience in business management and/or administration.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential: Fluency in Japanese both written and verbal.

Preferred: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Power Point and Access applications, Strong numerical, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, Strong accuracy and attention to details, Strong analytical skills and demonstrable accuracy when creating reports, Effective team player with well-developed interpersonal skills, Excellent time management skills.

Education / Qualifications:

Essential: Degree level education and/or relevant industry expertise.
