This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen the finance risk culture across MUFG, supporting the organization’s commitment to robust governance and regulatory excellence. Join MUFG’s London‑based Finance Division, where your expertise will directly influence the financial health and stability of one of the world’s leading banks through comprehensive risk oversight and control activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining and refreshing the Finance Risk and Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA), ensuring ongoing compliance with internal frameworks and external regulations.
- Deliver engaging risk management training sessions to Finance colleagues, helping embed best practices and foster a strong risk‑aware culture throughout the department.
- Independently review completed non‑SOX control testing, providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement within the Finance function.
- Conduct deep‑dive reviews into internal or external events and processes, identifying root causes and recommending actionable solutions for enhanced resilience.
- Produce high‑quality management information (MI) on risk and control matters using modern technologies such as AI, highlighting quality issues and gaps requiring remediation.
- Support regular risk assessments in line with framework requirements, ensuring all findings are accurately documented and escalated as necessary.
- Contribute to the Finance Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) and Horizon Scanning forum by analysing risk‑tool data for inclusion in committee presentations.
- Challenge risk and control owners constructively to provide evidence for issue closure, ensuring accountability across all levels of the Finance function.
- Act as subject‑matter expert on risk management tools within Finance, extracting reports and performing detailed data analysis to identify non‑compliance or inefficiencies.
- Assist with regulatory compliance by staying up‑to‑date with changes in laws, rules, policies and internal frameworks relevant to MUFG’s operations.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience working within an Operational Risk Management framework in a banking environment, ideally with exposure to both finance functions and broader support teams.
- Proven ability to interpret complex risk and control data sets, producing insightful reports that inform senior decision‑making processes.
- Strong report‑writing skills with experience collating materials for risk forums or committee packs within regulated financial institutions.
- Hands‑on experience conducting control testing activities, both SOX‑related and non‑SOX, ensuring accuracy and completeness of results.
- A solid understanding of what constitutes a positive risk culture within large organisations; able to promote these values through daily interactions.
- Advanced analytical skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with AI‑driven data analysis tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication abilities enabling you to explain technical concepts clearly while building trust among diverse stakeholder groups.
- A calm approach under pressure coupled with exceptional attention to detail ensures high standards are maintained even during busy periods.
- Relevant academic qualifications demonstrating your commitment to ongoing learning; additional certifications in risk management would be advantageous.
