Overview of the Department/Section
Transaction Banking EMEA forms part of MUFG’s Global Transaction Banking Division. The role supports regional business and global customers in Cash and Liquidity Management, Trade and Working Capital, and Foreign Exchange. The UK Deposit Sales Desk is part of the strategy to grow balance sheet and deposit base.
Main Purpose of the Role
The UK Deposit Sales Desk will support GCIB and TB EMEA in achieving balance and revenue targets by securing stable funding and diversifying balances.
Key Responsibilities
- Securing stable funding to maintain LD gap within agreed target range
- Diversify EMEA corporate balances to ensure a stable and cost efficient source of funding
- Contribute to the execution of the EMEA deposit-gathering strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders (Coverage, Global Markets, Treasury)
- Enhance the tenor quality of non-JPY funding and increase the volume of customer deposits aligned with funding requirements
- Ensure Deposit Sales desk activities comply with all regulatory requirements and safeguard the bank’s license to operate within the EMEA region
- Adapt business operations to meet regulatory requirements with focus on alignment with Basel, LCR, CRD and other applicable regulations
- Manage TB MM desk in London for sale, marketing, booking and execution of term deposits for GCIB client base: Corporate, NBFI, FI, SWFs
- Enable GCIB LD gap fulfilment to targets and revenue profile as agreed with GCIB
- Execute GCIB/TB customer deposit account plans
- Respond to all bids/EFI/RFQ requests of GCIB clients
- Source comparative insights for benchmarking
- Operate within MUFG Bank’s agreed balance sheet capacity
- Manage sale and execution of deposits in line with GCIB targets for diversification, currency mix and maturity profile
- Follow established pricing approval procedures as agreed between GCIB, TB and EGMD Treasury and Finance
- Operate in strict compliance with TB MM Deposit booking policy as per agreed RACI/SOP
- Demonstrate full compliance with risk, control and operational handling framework as per RACI and SOP
- Undertake scheduled training and development to remain a fit, proper, trained and competent person to perform Controlled Functions as an Approved Person
KPI: Support TB in achieving FY 26 Deposit growth target of EUR 4.6bn
KPI: Increase Deposit Desk Win Loss Ratio for tenors > 1m month by 20%
Work Experience
Essential: Solid experience in a Money Market Deposit sales role directly dealing with Corporate Banking clients or experience of running a treasury investment desk at the client side. Evidence of strong stakeholder management and client centricity.
Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of short-term investment instruments in the corporate treasury environment, including Money Market instruments (Term Deposits, CD, CP, etc.) and Cash & Liquidity products (Interest-Bearing Account, Cash Pooling)
- Strong experience with 360T, Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon for client communications, money market deal execution and competitor rate benchmarking
- Understanding of Corporate Cash Management including cash flow work (receivables, payables, working capital cycle), bank account structures, liquidity management, bank communication channels, netting, cash forecasting
- Awareness of the key Risk Management Policies for corporate treasury including counterparty risk, credit ratings, and diversification
- Proficient understanding of Forex, Interest Rates and hedging basics (forwards, swaps)
- Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
