Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and refresh the Finance Risk and Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Support the delivery of risk management training initiatives, helping finance colleagues embed a positive risk culture.
  • Provide independent oversight by performing control testing, reviewing event read‑across processes, conducting deep‑dive reviews and challenging completed non‑SOX control tests to drive continuous improvement.
  • Produce comprehensive risk and control management information (MI) using modern technologies such as AI to identify quality issues, gaps for remediation, and opportunities for process enhancement.
  • Assist with regular risk assessments in line with framework requirements, ensuring all findings are documented and escalated as necessary.
  • Support the Finance Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) and Horizon Scanning forum by analysing risk tool data for inclusion in committee presentation materials.
  • Challenge risk and control owners to provide clear evidence for issue resolution and action closure, ensuring accountability across all levels of the finance function.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert on risk‑management tools, extracting reports and performing detailed data analysis to identify non‑compliant items or control inefficiencies.
  • Assist with responding to risk and control attestation requests by verifying data accuracy and independently checking responses for completeness.
  • Build strong relationships with key individuals across London EMEA Finance teams, global services teams, offshore locations, and other support functions such as Operational Risk, Executive Control Office, and Internal Audit.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in operational risk frameworks within banking or financial services environments.
  • Hands‑on experience interpreting complex risk and control datasets and communicating findings clearly through written reports or presentations.
  • Experience conducting control testing activities, including non‑SOX controls, and providing independent challenge or oversight to drive improvements.
  • Strong academic background and a willingness to learn new concepts quickly; relevant qualifications in risk management are advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with stakeholders across departments or geographic locations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong numerical abilities, and the ability to spot inconsistencies or potential issues before they escalate.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with modern data‑analysis tools or AI‑driven reporting solutions.
