Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking an Assistant Vice President to join its Trade Finance Middle Office team in London.
What you'll do:
- Conduct thorough reviews of term sheets, credit applications, and facility documentation from an operational standpoint to ensure all transactions are workable and processed efficiently without unnecessary delays.
- Assess client drawdown requests meticulously to confirm that each transaction aligns with the terms of approved facilities, safeguarding compliance and accuracy at every stage.
- Examine Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit wordings for operational feasibility, negotiating terms with clients and legal teams as required to ensure clarity and mutual agreement.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support for all products related to non‑commodity business within the ETBO framework, while also assisting with commodity‑related business when necessary.
- Act as a daily liaison between clients, relationship managers, product managers, and various operational units to foster seamless communication and effective issue resolution.
- Monitor and control guarantee facilities exposure on a daily basis across the current portfolio, ensuring accurate determination of facility availability for new requests or enquiries.
- Prioritise inward communications based on subject matter importance with a strong emphasis on client centricity, ensuring urgent matters receive prompt attention.
- Develop familiarity with individual client processes and business flows in order to take ownership within the team once sufficient knowledge has been acquired.
- Offer technical and operational assistance to all stakeholders including clients, Relationship Managers, branches, and operational units throughout EMEA.
- Reconcile balances between the bank’s accounting system and exposure management tools for all allocated or monitored limits to maintain precise records.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated substantial experience working in an operational capacity within trade finance or guarantee‑related product environments.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Solid understanding of up‑to‑date market standards relevant to trade finance products (including ISP98, UCP600, e‑UCP, URDG).
- Experience with Loan IQ or similar systems is highly desirable.
- Minimum general secondary education (or equivalent) in core academic subjects is required; A Level (or equivalent) qualifications are preferred.
- Additional language skills—particularly French—are advantageous for communicating across EMEA markets.
- Excellent communication skills are necessary for building rapport with clients and collaborating effectively within teams.
- A proactive approach combined with strong organisational abilities enables prioritisation of workload under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail ensures accuracy in documentation review and exposure monitoring tasks.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure supports consistent performance during busy periods.
