The Sanctions Advisory Officer is part of the EMEA Sanctions Advisory pillar within the Global Financial Crimes Division. The primary responsibility is to provide timely, consistent sanctions advice and manage regulatory reporting across the EMEA region, ensuring MUFG complies with Japanese, U.S., EMEA and UK sanctions regimes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret relevant regulations and provide expert sanctions advice.
- Conduct risk assessments on proposed transactions and identify potential exposure to sanctioned parties.
- Draft, manage and oversee all regulatory reporting to authorities such as OFSI and OTSI.
- Support license application requests and monitor regulatory developments.
- Collaborate with global and regional sanctions colleagues on higher‑risk cases and promote consistent application of sanctions standards.
- Assist with the management and oversight of frozen or blocked funds.
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven experience and strong knowledge of sanctions regimes (Japanese, U.S., EMEA, UK).
- Experience in banking and familiarity with banking and investment products.
- Understanding of financial crime risk and risk‑management & control frameworks.
- Strong analytical, written and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to manage large workloads, deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Experience working cross‑business or dual‑entity is a plus.
Education
- Degree in finance, economics, law, or a related field is preferred.
