Loan Agency is part of the Transaction Processing Unit, within the Operations Division for EMEA. Transaction Processing provides efficient and accurate processing, ranging from single-touch, single entry to multi-touch, complex transaction processing. The Facility Agent is responsible for managing a portfolio of Syndicated Loans and for managing events on each Facility in accordance with Facility Agreements and Market Practice. Acting on behalf of a syndicate of lenders, the Facility Agent must deal with scheduled and unscheduled events, issues and queries, which must be dealt with quickly and efficiently and administered in accordance with the relevant Facility Agreement.

Main Purpose of the Role

Alongside the usual associated administrative processing for each deal there will be additional lifecycle events driven by the facility documentation. The successful candidate will manage a section of the wider portfolio of complex Agency deals. As a transaction coordinator, end‑to‑end maintenance of the portfolio can include the tracking of financial and ESG covenants, security trustee responsibilities, collateral monitoring, borrowing base maintenance and front‑to‑back management of amendments and waivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to facilitate the completion of daily tasks in accordance with head office rules and regulations.
  • Verify the work of fellow team members accurately.
  • Assist line management with daily workflow control to ensure timely completion of obligations.
  • Help create, review and maintain policies and procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Support implementation of projects as and when necessary.
  • Communicate and negotiate with stakeholders including Front Office, Lenders, external legal counsel and Borrowers to administer events on the portfolio of loans.
  • Act as the first point of contact for issue resolution and escalation, using specialised knowledge to solve routine issues and answer queries.
  • Escalate issues as required.
  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and ensure effective inter‑departmental collaboration.
  • Operate as a product specialist, providing subject‑matter expertise where required.

Work Experience

  • Essential: Previous experience working in a manual operations environment.
  • Essential: Experience working in a fast‑moving environment under time pressure while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Essential: Previous experience of Syndicated or Agency Loan Operations.
  • Essential: Experience facilitating calls and meetings with external legal counsel, borrowers and lenders.
  • Essential: Excellent client service skills.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Debtidomain and LoanIQ.

Functional / Technical Competencies

  • Essential: Strong computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Essential: Familiarity with both LMA and LSTA loan documentation.

Education / Qualifications

  • Essential: A level or equivalent education.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
