Department / Section Overview: Sustainable Client Solutions (SCS) Team, London. The SCS Team works closely with Relationship Managers and Product Partners across the Global Corporate Investment Bank, Japanese Corporate Banking Division, and Global Markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The role promotes engagement on sustainable finance and sustainable advisory (ESG ratings, disclosures, and controversies) and supports the GX (Green Transformation) strategy within EMEA.

Main purpose of the role: The successful candidate will support the advisory and origination activities of SCS, primarily assisting the Head of Sustainable Client Solutions with resourcing related to the GX Strategy. Additional support will be provided to other senior members of the SCS Team as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing client engagement materials, including generating thought-provoking and topical content.
  • Collaborate with RMs and Product Partners across the region to identify sustainable finance and other cross-sell opportunities, acting in a product-neutral capacity.
  • Stay up-to-date on sustainability-related themes such as taxonomies and regulations.
  • Be responsible for internal knowledge sharing and supporting training efforts related to sustainable finance and advisory topics.
  • Support the Head of SCS as required in liaising with Head Office stakeholders and responding to information requests.
  • Ensure proper governance and risk management practices around sustainable finance products.

Work experience: Desirable to have a level of front office experience.

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of sustainable finance, sustainable advisory, and other sustainability-related themes; clear communication skills; IT literacy; quantitative skills; interpersonal skills; interest in sustainability.

Education / Qualifications: Degree level and/or relevant industry expertise.

Personal requirements:

  • Strong decision-making and judgment; structured and logical approach; problem solving; creative and innovative thinking.
