Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on, participate in and implement Firm transactions, actions, projects and initiatives, including process improvement and technology onboarding to improve the delivery of legal services.
  • Provide legal advice, review draft and negotiate documentation, and manage execution for hedging, derivatives and trading transactions.
  • Provide legal advice, review draft and negotiate documentation, and manage transactions and projects for a broad range of banking transactions including project finance, aviation finance, fund finance, asset finance, securitisation, leverage finance, structured products and derivatives transactions.
  • Review, draft and negotiate transaction documents, term-sheets, client presentations and oversee all related transaction management.
  • Review and draft derivatives documentation, including ISDA Schedules, CSAs, GMRA/GMSLA, similar trading agreements, long‑form confirmations and bespoke agreements for FX transactions, netting, enforceability legal opinions and guarantees.
  • Provide non‑legal support for reporting and information management – e.g., release emails, MAS ID, Indox, MRRAs, Markit Swap Agent matching, billing and invoices, and support audit enquiries.
  • Maintain and update the internal Documentation Manual, standard legal templates, internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage other forms of market‑standard trading documentation as well as bespoke documents for bonds, loans, derivatives, foreign exchange, indices, forwards and options.
  • Advise on legal, regulatory and reputational issues arising in transactions and non‑transactional operations of the Firm, both regionally and internationally.
  • Support the Legal team with legal and market research.
  • Provide support to other global legal teams (Tokyo, Americas, Asia‑Pacific) and functional areas.
  • Assist with additional legal delivery areas as the offshore team expands.

Skills and Experience

  • University graduate with demonstrable LLM and read‑law experience.
  • Experience obtained in an internship either in private practice with a major law firm or in‑house with a significant financial institution.
  • Familiarity with general banking and derivatives products is an advantage.
  • Commercial awareness of the latest market issues and regulatory changes.
  • Ability to build effective and positive client relationships quickly and to fully embrace the importance of client service.
  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts to a non‑technical audience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to speak/read another language is desirable, though not essential.
