Operating from 17 locations worldwide, we help clients mitigate risk, enhance efficiency, and navigate the operational complexities of today’s investment management landscape.
As an Oracle Flexcube Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in helping MUFG Investor Services get more value from its core banking platform. We run Oracle Flexcube Universal Banking as the foundation of our banking operations – covering payments, treasury, foreign exchange, money markets, nostro reconciliation, SWIFT connectivity and more. The platform has grown significantly in capability and there is a real opportunity to close the gap between what Flexcube can do and what we currently use.
You will work across IT and the business to identify standard features we have not yet activated, assess bespoke components built in earlier phases to determine whether they can be replaced by native functionality, and drive resolution of open configuration and change requests. You will work closely with the Banking Family Lead in IT and collaborate across Application Management, Banking Operations, and Product Management. You will also be a key point of contact with Oracle Support, coordinating on open tickets, change requests, and configuration queries – bringing clarity and momentum to engagements that have historically required significant back-and-forth.
This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role that combines platform knowledge with strong stakeholder management and the ability to produce clear, well‑evidenced analysis and documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Platform Capability Assessment: Conduct a structured review of licensed Flexcube modules to identify features and configurations available but not currently activated or used. Benchmark current usage across payments, standing instructions, foreign exchange, money markets, nostro reconciliation, and reporting against the full standard product capability. Produce a prioritised inventory of unutilised capabilities with assessed business value and implementation complexity.
- Bespoke Component Rationalisation: Review customisations and bespoke components built in prior versions to determine whether equivalent standard functionality now exists in the current release. Prepare structured assessments for each bespoke item: functional equivalence, migration complexity, risk, and recommended action (retire, retain, or replace). Work with the Banking Family Lead and Application Management to validate findings and agree a rationalisation roadmap.
- Backlog Management and Resolution: Triage, document, and drive resolution of open items in the Flexcube Jira backlog, spanning configuration issues, change requests, business queries, and scripting requirements. Distinguish clearly between items requiring Oracle involvement, items resolvable through internal configuration, and items needing formal change requests. Maintain backlog hygiene: correct categorisation, clear ownership, and defined next steps for all items.
- Oracle Engagement and Coordination: Act as the primary coordination point for Oracle Support on open tickets and change requests, working alongside the Banking Family Lead and Application Management. Prepare clear, well‑evidenced submissions to reduce round‑trip delays and accelerate resolution. Track Oracle commitments, patch schedules, and responses, escalating where timelines slip.
- Business and IT Collaboration: Work with Product Management to translate business requirements into Flexcube configuration or change specifications. Engage Banking Operations, Application Management, and project teams to gather requirements, validate solutions, and support UAT. Produce high‑quality documentation: business requirements, functional specifications, solution designs, and training notes as required.
- Reporting and Governance: Provide regular progress updates to the Banking Family Lead on backlog status, capability findings, and Oracle engagement. Flag risks and issues promptly, particularly where unresolved items represent operational or compliance exposure.
- Flexcube & Core Banking Knowledge: 5–8+ years of hands‑on experience working with Oracle Flexcube Universal Banking as a business analyst, functional consultant, or implementation specialist. Deep understanding of core banking operations including payments (domestic and cross‑border), SWIFT messaging, foreign exchange, money markets, and account management. Experience engaging with Oracle Financial Services on support tickets, change requests, and product configuration – ideally including post‑upgrade optimisation work. Ability to assess bespoke platform customisations objectively and build evidence‑based cases for rationalisation or replacement.
- Business Analysis: Proven ability to analyse and document complex functional requirements and translate them into clear specifications suitable for configuration or development. Experience managing and triaging product backlogs, working across IT and business stakeholders to prioritise effectively. Strong written communication skills; able to produce high‑quality documentation independently without extensive supervision. Excellent stakeholder management – comfortable bridging technical IT teams and non‑technical business users simultaneously.
- Technical Skills: SQL proficiency – able to write and interpret queries to interrogate Flexcube data, validate configurations, and support analysis work. Familiarity with Flexcube integration patterns (web services, REST/SOAP APIs) and data flows between Flexcube and downstream systems. Comfortable working with Jira or similar backlog management tools.
