Overview of the Department/Section:
The Information and Data Management (IDM) department is responsible for data management and MI production across all international subsidiaries of MUSHD and EMEA region for MUFG Bank. The mandate for the department is to:
- Develop a business led, technology enabled data strategy and roadmap for delivery of data management target state
- Develop a data governance framework and establish data related policies and procedures to improve the value of data as an enterprise asset
- Source, validate and maintain master data repositories of market and reference data
- Agree data quality standards with business owners and track metrics and continuously improve data processes
- Investigate and analyse data issues, identify the root cause and recommend control improvements
- Develop and support an MI platform optimised for the aggregation of data and the reporting of processed and analysed information
- Deliver accurate, timely and insightful MI to the international business to support executive decision making and to meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
The team operates internationally with staff currently based in London, New York and Hong Kong.
Main Purpose of the Role:
We have an exciting role within our London Data Governance team. The successful candidate will be within the Data Governance Team responsible for the enterprise wide data governance framework across the EMEA region.
- Embedding the Data Governance framework across the EMEA region.
- Develop framework to capture Key Data Elements (KDE’s) and identify golden source systems, completing data mapping for key reporting outputs.
- Support the implementation of strategic metadata and data lineage tooling across the EMEA region.
- Improve data quality through assessment and root cause analysis of data issues and the build out of automated Data Quality monitoring controls.
- Contribution towards data management policy updates and global alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination of data mapping initiatives, including the documentation of data flows, identification of KDE’s and registration of Golden Source systems.
- Expand scope of data quality, metadata and data lineage tooling across the organization.
- Agreeing data quality validation criteria with Business Data Stewards.
- Create and update reports and dashboards to track data quality and data issue remediation.
- Ownership of Data Issue log and coordination with Business Data Stewards throughout the Firm.
- Contribute to promotion and training around data governance principles.
- Support timely remediation of audit points.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience within a bank’s data governance function (essential)
- Understanding of Data Governance regulation and best practice (essential)
- Experience of supporting data governance forums e.g. Data Quality and Issue Management working groups (beneficial)
- Experience of working with stakeholders of all levels (essential)
- Experience working with Informatica or similar data governance tools (essential)
- Working knowledge and understanding of data quality dimensions, profiling and analysis (essential)
- Proficient in SQL coding to identify root cause and implement data quality controls (beneficial)
