OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION
The role of Capacity Management & Monitoring is to provide robust service and environment protection through effective pro-active (and reactive) event monitoring along with a forward-looking Capacity Management function. The Capacity Management function provides analysis, trending and forecasting of IT Infrastructure usage for Technology Division in EMEA.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Digital Operational Resilience Act 2022/2554 (“DORA”) provides a regulatory framework for participants within the financial sector to adequately prevent, respond and recover from cyber disruptions through a homogenous digital operational resilience strategy. The focus of DORA is specifically in relation to ICT-related risks and disruption and ensuring digital operational resilience. We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert with knowledge of Capacity Management and an understanding of how existing and future regulation impacts Infrastructure Management. The role will support delivery and ongoing support for uplifted requirements under DORA, with Network and Data Centre Capacity Management a particular focus. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT processes, controls, and practices align with regulatory requirements, helping safeguard our digital platform and maintain compliance across all IT operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Infrastructure Capacity Analysis, Forecasting and Reporting to stakeholders internationally to ensure informed decisions can be made regarding short, medium and long term Infrastructure capacity requirements.
- Develop regular Capacity Reporting from component Capacity Management into Service Capacity management through use of tooling and/or internal or external suppliers.
- Deliver to uplifted Capacity Management policies, procedures and standards to align with DORA regulations.
- Collaborate with Tooling developers to ensure that Capacity Management requirements are covered.
- Implement, maintain, and optimise controls and processes to ensure Capacity Management compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop reporting mechanisms to track regulatory compliance, providing regular updates to senior management on potential risks, areas for improvement, and overall compliance status.
- Liaise with regulatory and compliance teams across all entities to maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and proactively address any updates or changes to regulatory guidelines.
- Develop and maintain an IT risk register that aligns with regulation, documenting all risks, controls, mitigations, and responsibilities to safeguard digital operational resilience.
- Recommend and implement changes to IT processes and architecture to reduce risk, ensuring that Capacity Management practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead initiatives to improve IT service performance and resilience, leveraging insights gained from Capacity Management activities to refine processes and enhance service reliability.
- Collaborate with IT Operations, Change Management, and Development teams to refine processes that improve system reliability and mitigate ICT risk.
The above responsibilities will be performed across both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc under a dual-hat arrangement. Under the arrangement, the role holder will act and make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the employing entity.
WORK EXPERIENCE
The role holder will have 5+ years of experience supporting financial institution(s) in a Capacity Management role. The role holder will ideally have 5+ years of experience Capacity Management from a regulatory perspective.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience of supporting a Capacity Management function within a financial institution essential with a large diverse, international, multi-platform IT estate.
- Proven experience of capacity planning for Networks and Data Centres essential.
- Demonstratable evidence of ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as DORA, GDPR, or equivalent regulations in the financial/technology sector from a Capacity Management perspective.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive compliance initiatives.
- Knowledge of ITIL Processes generally and touchpoints with Capacity Management processes and controls specifically.
- Proficiency with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA), monitoring systems and reporting platforms.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools (such as SQL, PowerShell and monitoring tool API integration) is desirable.
