MUFG Investor Services are seeking an experienced senior lawyer to add to a small but global legal team working in the London office. The successful candidate will have a broad experience of commercial law and be expected to advise the business on legal matters, risk management and maintain commercial strategies.

Scope of work
  • Global contract drafting and negotiating: Review, draft, and negotiate vendor contracts, including recognising and escalating vendor contractual issues with MUFG Vendor Management, Outsourcing, Data Protection, Legal, Information Security and business teams. Vendor contracts will include Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Software License Agreements, Subscription as a Service Agreements, Engagement Letters and Non-disclosure Agreements.
  • Regulatory matters that impact commercial contracts: Advising the business on day-to-day legal and regulatory matters across all key jurisdictions of MUFG and assisting the business with managing legal risk. This will entail implementing and remediating contracts as a result of the regulatory requirements and also tracking for updates that may require revisions or enhancements to the remediated contracts.
  • Understanding company products and Services: Manage vendor contract matters from start to finish which includes any or all of the following: taking instructions, gathering information, determining the appropriate course of action, managing timelines and stakeholder expectations re completion, reviewing and drafting legal documents, managing input from the business and external counsel if appropriate.
  • Working closely with Vendor Management: Assisting and advising Vendor Management and Legal on opportunities for enhancements to the vendor contract review processes and procedures.
  • Cross department Stakeholder advising: Responding to vendor legal queries from operational departments, internal control/support groups, client integration/client services teams, senior management and entity boards, all with respect to applicable laws and regulatory matters affecting MUFG and its client services.
  • Broad financial services experience: Given the nature of MUFG client services, a broad knowledge of financial services will be beneficial for this role.
  • Supporting projects: Supporting projects that have an impact and effect on MUFG vendors and vendor matters.
  • Attending to any other ad hoc duties or projects as required.

Qualified English solicitor with at least 5-10 years PQE (must be admitted to the Law Society of England and Wales and be in good standing).
