About the role

As IT Desktop Support, you will serve as the first point of contact for technical issues, ensuring prompt resolution and appropriate escalation to 3rd party IT providers. Day to day duties will also include assisting with the stability of the company's computer systems and electronic data, maintenance and supporting implementation of customised systems and overseeing all computer-related activities. The successful candidate will be based in Poole, but occasional visits to Southampton office may be required. This is a varied and exciting role in a rapidly growing business, with the opportunity to work with a wide variety of systems and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and manage users, ensuring secure and appropriate permissions are given to new starters and existing users or revoked for leavers.
  • Setup workstations for new starters (monitors, cables, keyboard and other IT equipment etc.).
  • Register warranties for new devices, manage hardware maintenance and replacements.
  • Look to support in updating current reporting environment.
  • Install, configure, test and update computer software, hardware, operating systems and applications for both Windows and Mac OS.
  • Monitor, diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for urgent requests that cannot wait for 3rd party.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining IT documentation e.g. IT Asset register, Inventory, IT Handbook, Knowledge Base.

Essential skills/experience:

  • IT qualification, ideally at NVQ Level 3 or higher.
  • Genuine interest in IT and technology.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC and operating system issues.
  • Passion for technology, can-do attitude and strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent logical, analytical and problem solving skills, combined with the ability to provide quick resolution to problems.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows and Mac OS operating systems.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable skills/experience:

  • BA or BS degree in computer science, economics or other relevant fields.
  • Previous IT experience as desktop support or technical support is advantageous.
  • Experience in SQL, Tableau, BigQuery or other data visualisation tools is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proficient in SQL reporting writing.
