We are recruiting an experienced Inspection Quality Engineer to join an established aerospace engineering and manufacturing organisation in Denham. This position would suit a Quality Engineer, Inspection Engineer or experienced Quality Inspector with strong knowledge of First Article Inspection, AS9102 requirements and manufacturing quality systems.

You will be responsible for planning and completing First Article Inspections, carrying out patrol inspection audits and ensuring products meet the required specifications and quality standards.

The Role

  • Plan and carry out First Article Inspection activities against manufacturing programmes
  • Complete First Article Inspection reports for assemblies and customer deliverable products
  • Review completed FAI documentation against AS9102 and internal quality requirements
  • Approve, archive and maintain accurate First Article Inspection records
  • Plan and conduct patrol inspection audits across manufacturing departments
  • Produce reports, metrics and corrective action plans following inspection audits
  • Conduct follow-up audits and monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Raise non-conformance notifications where required
  • Ensure products meet engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards
  • Support improvements to inspection, audit and Quality Management System processes
  • Use quality and business systems to record inspection results and analyse data
  • Share technical knowledge and support the development of less experienced colleagues

Skills and Experience Required

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Quality Engineer, Inspection Engineer or Quality Inspection experience
  • Good understanding of AS9100 auditing requirements
  • Strong experience completing AS9102 First Article Inspections
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Comfortable working with 2D and 3D engineering images
  • Good numerical and geometrical skills
  • Experience using quality management systems, inspection tools and processes
  • Strong data analysis and report-writing skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with SAP, Q-Pulse QPM or similar quality and manufacturing systems
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to make quality approval decisions

Qualifications

  • HNC, HND, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification
  • An engineering apprenticeship would be highly advantageous
  • Previous aerospace experience would be desirable
