We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Business Development to lead commercial growth within the UK bus shelter infrastructure market. This is a senior opportunity for someone with a strong background in business development, public-realm infrastructure, transport, street furniture, engineering products or advertising concessions. The successful candidate will take ownership of the sector, develop the national growth strategy, identify new revenue opportunities and build senior-level relationships with local authorities, transport operators, advertising concessionaires and private-sector developers. You will also manage and develop a small team of Business Development Managers.

The Role
As Head of Business Development, you will lead all commercial growth activity across the UK bus shelter infrastructure market. Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing a national business development and growth strategy
- Identifying and securing new revenue streams and high-value commercial opportunities
- Building relationships with councils, combined authorities, transport operators and public-realm decision-makers
- Developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities
- Understanding forthcoming infrastructure programmes, procurement frameworks and tendering cycles
- Working closely with design, engineering and product teams to develop solutions that meet changing market requirements
- Supporting the development of products involving digital technology, accessibility, sustainability and smart-city integration
- Representing the business at exhibitions, conferences and industry events
- Managing, coaching and developing a small Business Development team
- Providing regular commercial and pipeline reporting to senior management
The Candidate
We are looking for an experienced senior sales or business development professional who can demonstrate:
- Senior-level Business Development experience within infrastructure, transport, street furniture, engineering products or a closely related sector
- Strong knowledge of UK local authority procurement and tendering frameworks
- Experience securing major, multi-year contracts, concessions or capital-delivery programmes
- Strong relationships and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience dealing with councils, transport operators and private-sector partners
- Commercial awareness including P&L responsibility, forecasting and strategic planning
- Experience managing or developing a Business Development or commercial team
- Excellent proposal-writing, presentation and negotiation skills
- A strong understanding of public-sector procurement
- A highly driven, competitive and target-focused approach
Experience within street furniture, bus shelter infrastructure or engineering product sales would be particularly advantageous. This is an excellent senior-level opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of a growing market sector and play a major role in developing long-term commercial relationships across the UK.
