An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial & Procurement Manager to join a well-established organisation operating within the Aerospace engineering and manufacturing sector. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing commercial, contractual, and procurement activities across multiple business units, supporting business growth, profitability and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will be based across sites in Essex, living within a commutable distance is essential. A relocation package is available for suitable applicants.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will take ownership of all commercial and procurement matters, ensuring contractual compliance, minimising commercial risk and driving profitable growth across the business. You will lead and develop both the Commercial and Procurement teams, implementing robust processes and procedures while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial and contractual activities, including contract reviews, negotiations, customer terms and conditions, NDAs and long-term agreements.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers at both operational and senior management level.
  • Monitor commercial performance of customer accounts and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Oversee bid and tender submissions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage estimating and procurement functions, ensuring accurate and timely pricing support.
  • Develop, implement and improve commercial and procurement procedures, policies and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory and import/export requirements.
  • Support business development activities and evaluate new commercial opportunities.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure contractual obligations and service delivery expectations are achieved.
  • Develop procurement strategies to optimise stock levels, supplier performance and inventory management.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and manage strategic supplier relationships.
  • Produce management reports, performance metrics and commercial insights for senior leadership.
  • Support audits, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

To be considered, you should have:

  • Significant Commercial and Procurement Management experience.
  • Strong background in contract law, contract negotiation and commercial risk management.
  • Experience within aerospace, MRO, engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of customer account management and supporting business growth.
  • Experience developing procurement strategies and managing complex supply chains.
  • Previous experience managing multiple teams and departments.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience creating and monitoring KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management systems.
