We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Gardener to join a dedicated team maintaining and developing beautiful gardens and landscaped grounds at a prestigious private estate in Ongar. The Role
As an Assistant Gardener, you will support the ongoing care and development of the estate's gardens and grounds, helping to maintain the highest standards throughout the year. Your responsibilities will include:
- Mowing, strimming, weeding and general grounds maintenance
- Planting, pruning and caring for a wide variety of plants and shrubs
- Soil preparation, digging and cultivating planting areas
- Assisting with landscaping projects and installation of garden features
- Operating and maintaining hand tools and powered gardening equipment
- Carrying out basic maintenance and servicing of gardening machinery
- Supporting pest management and plant nutrition programmes
- Working safely and following all Health & Safety procedures
- Assisting the wider grounds team with day to day maintenance activities
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in gardening, horticulture or landscaping
- Has previous gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance experience, or is a keen home gardener or allotment holder
- Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Is physically fit and happy carrying out manual work
- Can work well independently and as part of a team
- Has a positive attitude and is keen to learn
- Holds a full UK driving licence
