Position: HGV Tanker Driver/Drainage Engineer

Location: Stanley House, Rochester, ME24NF

Line Reporting Manager: Depot Manager

Hours: Monday – Friday 06:00am – 16:00pm 50hour week.

Salary: £12.60ph / £32,760 basic annually. Overtime paid at time and a half £18.90. Overtime to be covered after hours and weekends.

£45 night work through bonus. Which means if you was to work through the night into the next day you would get the bonus on top off moneys for hours worked.
Call out bonus: You get put on a schedule for call outs. £30 for a weekday, £45 per a day on the weekend.

  • Average earnings holiday pay: We pay average holiday pay. Which means if you was to earn over your basic salary (lots of overtime) for the last 3 months you would be paid what youve averagely earnt not at just your basic salary.

Principle Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Being flexible in your approach to work and undertake ad-hoc duties when your vehicle is off the road or if you are required to assist other field teams

Roles and Responsibilities forHGV Driver:

  • Drive and operate specialist jetting tankers; Super Suction Jetting Tankers, Combination Jetting Tankers once training has been provided (Class 2, CPC required)
  • Attend emergency call out situations dealing with sewer blockages, flooding and pollution
  • Working on Private and public land in strict accordance with statutory health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Undertake vehicle checks at the start and finish of each shift
  • Ensure that all jobs are documented correctly
  • Report all defects, accidents and near misses immediately to Line Manager
  • Maintain the drivers log book in compliance with MOT rules and procedures
  • Ensure that the conditions of all PPE (personal protective clothing and equipment) remain fit for purpose
  • Keep the vehicle and equipment washed down on a weekly basis, free from rubbish in hose and tool boxes and the cab
  • Attend training as and when required

Health & Safety forHGV Driver:

Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) states the general duties of employees at work

It shall be the duty of every employee while at work to:

(a) To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work; and

(b) as regards any duty or requirement imposed on their employer or any other person by or under any of the relevant statutory provisions, to co-operate with them so far as is necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with

Drainage Engineer (Combi) Health and Safety Responsibilities are:

  • To understand and comply with the company health and safety policy
  • To influence and promote a positive health, safety culture within the organisation and lead by example
  • To ensure all works activities are carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with legislative, company requirements and the RAMS
  • To carry out comprehensively and complete all company required site documentation
  • Ensure VPRs are carried out and completed
  • DRAs are to be carried out for every job and updated where required
  • To report all health, safety and environmental incidents to the Line Manager within 2 hours of it happening

Qualifications / Competency forHGV Driver:

  • Hgv Class 1/2 Driving license
  • ADR Licence Desired
  • Must have the ability to take on responsibility of working within very controlled guidelines and environmental regulations
  • Able to deal with the public in a polite and friendly manner
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision and to receive instructions remotely
  • Previous work involving liquid waste products in the water utility / environmental services sector is desirable. Knowledge of safe working in street works preferred
  • NRSWA Unit 2 (Desired)
  • High Pressure Water Jetting(Desired)
  • Emergency First Aid (Inhouse Training Given)
  • First Aid at Work(Inhouse Training Given)
  • Manual Handling(Inhouse Training Given)
  • Asbestos Awareness (UKATA)
  • Standpipe Usage Competence
