The Company: We are working with a leading building contractor who are gaining a great reputation for delivering varied and interesting projects for clients based across the UK. They have a very approachable and successful senior management team, are members of a number of key public sector procurement frameworks so secure work in healthcare, for universities, blue light, commercial, industrial and school projects valued up to £50 Million. They are a part of a large Construction Group but still have the feel of a smaller family business where employees are valued and supported. They are cash-rich, make good margins on their projects, have an excellent supply chain that they pay promptly and treat with respect, staff turnover is low as people enjoy working there.

The Role: Due to planned growth, they are now in a position to recruit a Planner who will be based from their Manchester office. Working with their Senior Planners and with regular contact with their Planning Director you will be involved in both tender and contract planning with typical duties including:

  • Analyse construction methodologies looking for areas of improvement.
  • Liaise with the Client and their representatives on planning matters.
  • Prepare tender programmes.
  • Attend client interviews and meetings where you will explain programmes and methodology.
  • Prepare master programmes, updating progress and forecasting completions.
  • Identify and mitigate risk whilst ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental considerations are taken into account.
  • Work with the Planning team to identify and champion Best Practice.

You: To be successful in this role you will need to have worked in a Planning role for a building contractor previously on significant projects similar to those described above using JCT and NEC forms of contract. You will be based in or be able to commute to the office in Manchester. IT literate with experience using specialist planning software – they use ASTA.
