We're currently working with a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Head of Design for a major healthcare development in West Yorkshire. The role will involve taking overall responsibility for the design function on a landmark hospital project, leading the design team and working closely with the client, consultants, supply chain and operational teams throughout pre-construction and delivery.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Leading the overall design function across a major healthcare project
- Managing and developing a multidisciplinary design team
- Driving the design programme from pre-construction through to delivery
- Coordinating consultants, specialist subcontractors and internal delivery teams
- Managing design risk, change, compliance and technical challenges
- Ensuring design information is produced in line with programme and construction requirements
- Working closely with the client and key project stakeholders
- Providing senior-level design input as part of the wider project leadership team
What You'll Need:
- Significant Design Management experience within a Tier 1 or major main contractor environment
- Strong track record delivering major healthcare or hospital projects
- Previous experience working under NEC contracts
- Experience leading design teams on large, technically complex schemes
- Strong understanding of healthcare design, compliance and stakeholder requirements
- Ability to manage consultants and specialist supply chain partners
- Strong commercial and programme awareness from a design perspective
- Confident operating at senior leadership level on major projects
