The Company: We are working with a leading regional civil engineering company who are enjoying controlled growth following a string of framework renewals and awards together with new contract wins. They typically carry out civil engineering, utilities and construction projects for a varied client base of public and private sector clients up to around £10 Million. They have the capability and accreditation to operate in a wide variety of sectors and are recruiting someone for this role to continue their growth and development. They are privately owned and in a very healthy financial position.
The Role: They are now in a position to recruit an experienced Estimator to their small work winning team to replace one of their Estimators who is taking on a new role. Working closely with the MD, Construction Director, the work winning team, commercial and technical teams and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for providing accurate estimates of project cost and will help to manage the submission of tenders to their clients. You'll be tasked with building up tender prices from first principles based on the scope of works, plans, specification and programme. You’ll assess risk, look at value engineering opportunities, deal with clients/their representatives, send out and vet subcontractor enquiries and follow up on tenders gaining appropriate feedback. As a business, they are supportive of a healthy work-life balance and offer home working and flexible start and finish times.
You: To be successful in this role you'll need to have worked in a similar role helping to secure similar projects for a contractor previously. You'll have a good understanding of the construction process and technologies, local supply chains and client bases. You will be based in or be able to commute to their Greater Manchester office. You will be IT literate (ideally with experience using dedicated Estimating software / Microsoft Applications).
