I’m working with a leading Tier 1 contractor to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major infrastructure scheme in Birmingham, kicking off construction in Summer 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to take full commercial ownership of a high-profile project that will deliver meaningful improvements to a key urban transport network.
The Role;
- You’ll take the lead on all commercial aspects of the project, working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to ensure successful delivery while maximising value and managing risk.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and driving the commercial strategy, adapting it as the project evolves
- Acting as the commercial lead across the project lifecycle through to final account
- Managing subcontract procurement – tendering, analysis, negotiation, and award
- Administering contracts and maintaining strong commercial governance
- Preparing, submitting, and agreeing valuations, payments, and final accounts
- Producing and managing CVRs and forecast final accounts
- Handling claims, variations, and loss & expense, including detailed substantiation
- Providing commercial insight and challenge to the wider project team
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and supply chain
What We’re Looking For;
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Track record of managing projects £15m+ commercially through to final account
- Experience with claims, variations, and commercial risk management
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of construction law and industry best practice
