We are looking for an experienced and proactive Reactive & Planned Service Engineer to join our Fire, Security & TECS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both emergency reactive call-outs and scheduled preventative maintenance across a range of life safety, security, and telecom systems.
This role requires strong fault-finding ability, excellent customer service skills, and the capability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining high compliance and safety standards.
The Job you'll do:
- Respond to emergency call-outs within agreed SLAs.
- Be part of an out of hours support team.
- Diagnose and rectify faults across fire, security, and telecom systems.
- Provide temporary and permanent solutions to system failures.
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding system status and required remedial works.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM):
- Carry out routine servicing and inspections in line with industry standards and contracts.
- Test and inspect fire alarm systems (conventional and addressable).
- Service intruder alarms, CCTV (IP & analogue), and access control systems.
- Maintain TECS including structured cabling, intercoms, and associated infrastructure.
- Identify and report system deficiencies and recommend remedial actions.
Systems Experience:
- Fire Alarm Systems (BS5839 compliant)
- Intruder Alarms
- CCTV Systems (IP-based systems preferred)
- Access Control Systems
- Emergency Lighting (BS5266 compliant)
- TECS / Structured Cabling / Door Entry Systems
About You:
Essential:
- Proven experience in servicing fire and security systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good IT skills for digital reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Desirable:
- FIA qualification or relevant fire & security certifications.
- ECS/CSCS card.
- IPAF/PASMA.
- Experience with major manufacturers systems.
- Knowledge of SSAIB or NSI compliance requirements.
