MTrec Technical are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading precision engineering and manufacturing organisation, seeking a Design Engineer to join their growing team in the heart of Northumberland. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced engineers with a passion for niche engineering solutions to develop innovative engineering solutions, manage projects, and act as a key technical interface between customers, internal engineering teams, and manufacturing functions within a cutting edge, and collaborative engineering environment.
The Job you will do:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer engineers throughout their journey with the business.
- Generate engineering solutions to customer requirements, using CAD to create 3D models and 2D drawings, potentially with the benefits of CFD analysis.
- Manage allocated projects, including raising purchase orders for materials and equipment, and overseeing prototype builds and testing.
- Collaborate with Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition into manufacture, ensuring processes meet customer requirements.
- Support the Sales Department by providing technical expertise when required.
- Maintain and archive all customer-related information in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Work in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained in areas under your control.
About you:
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is essential
- Up to 3 to 4 years engineering experience in a design, development and manufacturing environment
- Familiar with the use of CAD to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Experience of Ansys or similar software would be an advantage.
- Highly numerate and computer literate
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of 3D CAD design in Machined components or Assemblies
- Whilst not essential, a knowledge of thermodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics would be useful
- Basic knowledge of Electrical aspects of engineering
