The Company
Our client is a specialist engineering company. Due to growth, they are now looking to recruit a Workshop Lead.
The Role
Will be working in a permanent day shift role leading a team assembling and building their specialist products. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting allocated work to established quality standards and required timetables.
- Leading/directing other staff in conducting this work, ensuring the health and safety of all affected, including training.
- Establishing and maintaining a safe and effective working environment, including shop cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Ensuring that equipment is available and maintained, including calibration of gauges.
- Monitoring and advising of stock levels of consumables and parts to ensure service levels.
- Providing required production records (paper and electronic).
- Establishing and maintaining a communications system for staff and management to easily see important performance measures (e.g. delivery on time, parts availability, quality problems/equipment issues).
- Leading improvement initiatives.
- Organising/motivating/training staff to complete production tasks.
- Spotting and dealing with health, safety, and environmental issues; recording and solving these.
- Completing production records.
- Requesting parts and equipment repairs, replacement, and calibration.
- Completing cell 5S cleaning events; reorganising cell layout to improve effectiveness; arranging inspections.
The Person
Time Served Mechanical Fitter or have relevant experience. Must have supervisory experience and experience in assembly. Ability to read assembly/technical documentation such as drawings and work instructions. Adhere to manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
