Our client are specialists in their industry sector, they are looking to recruit a Tooling Design Engineer on a permanent basis.
The Job you'll do:
- Lead and manage a supplier/toolmaker/customer relationship while respecting program timelines, cost constraints and quality requirements.
- Competently control multiple timing plans across various plants/product divisions and suppliers.
- Interpret and suggest improvements to GAs and Engineering Layouts which will aid manufacturing and improve cycle times across a range of tooling types.
- Be able to understand tooling specifications and negotiate from a Fit for Function viewpoint.
- Lead part maturation cycle at tool trials in a methodical and logical manner which allows cost/quality and lead-time objectives to be maintained.
- Demonstrate an experience of tool design principles and an understanding of the key technologies that are employed in the manufacture of a range of tooling products.
- Utilise CAD/CAM packages in order to demonstrate an understanding of part design principles and therefore suggest improvements to the part or tool design at the feasibility stage.
- Develop contingencies where project critical issues are evident.
- Provide management with relevant data including regular reports.
- Make effective use of IT systems and comply with company procedures.
About You:
- Have relevant experience in a related role within the automotive industry or other high volume manufacturing industry.
- Experience of short lead-time delivery would be advantageous.
- Have excellent communication, literary and numeracy skills.
- Be HNC qualified in an appropriate Engineering discipline.
- Be IT literate (Windows/MS Office).
- Have experience of CAM Programming - This would be an advantage.
- Have excellent team-working and cross functional relationship building skills.
- Preferably be from a Press Toolmaking or Injection Mould Toolmaking background.
- Work independently whilst working away from site.
