MTrecs new career opportunity Our client are leaders in their industry sector, they are now looking to recruit a Purchasing and Logistics Manager.

If you have a strong managerial background in Purchasing / Logistics and are familiar with working in a heavy industry sector, this role could be ideal for you.

The job youll do Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned to business requirements, covering all materials, Bought Out Complete (BOC) components and subcontract machining, both UK and international.

Take accountability for continuity of supply, ensuring risks are identified and managed.

Drive supplier performance through structured measurement, review and development, including vendor rating systems and performance improvement plans.

Lead supplier negotiations and agreements to deliver cost competitiveness and improved delivery performance, manage supply-related risks including single-source dependencies, capacity constraints and quality issues.

Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, including quality, health & safety and ethical standards, develop and continuously improve purchasing policies, processes and governance.

Work closely with Sales and Engineering to support bid and project activity, ensuring supplier capability, lead times and costs are realistic and aligned.

Support production planning activities by ensuring timely procurement and availability of materials, and provide visibility of supply constraints, risks and delivery issues to support business decision-making.

Work with internal stakeholders to ensure materials are available in line with production requirements, lead and develop logistics and stores operations to ensure efficient material receipt, storage and internal movement.

Ensure high standards of inventory accuracy, control and traceability, drive improvements in material handling, warehouse organisation and logistics processes.

Ensure materials are available to production in line with business priorities, promote safe, efficient and well-organised working practices across stores and packing activities.

Define, implement and monitor key KPIs across purchasing and logistics, including supplier delivery, inventory and operational performance.

Analyse data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce cost and improve performance.

Lead the purchasing and logistics function in line with company values, providing clear direction and accountability.

Develop and maintain a capable and effective team across purchasing, logistics and stores.

Provide input to management reporting, budgeting and business planning processes.

Actively participate in management meetings and contribute to wider business decisions, ensure HR, HSE and ethical conduct policies are consistently applied.

About You Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or a related field (or equivalent experience, ideal but not essential.

CIPS) desirable, mandatory completion of a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check and preferably security clearance to UK SC level Develop and manage purchasing and logistics activities to support operational requirements.

Demonstrate responsibility for both strategic and operational purchasing activities, analyse data to identify and resolve supply and logistics issues, collaborate closely with other departments to support coordinated planning and delivery.

Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identify and implement cost-effective improvements.

Demonstrate continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment, resolve issues such as delays in delivery or supply disruption, support stakeholders in making effective supply-related decisions Strong knowledge of purchasing, logistics and supply processes.

Understanding of manufacturing environments and requirements, competence in relevant systems and software (IFS or equivalent).

Full UK driving licence, ability and willingness to travel globally as required.
