We are recruiting for our market leading client who are looking for a CNC Machinist- Fanuc Lathe. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work for one of the region's employers of choice.

The Role

  • As a CNC Machine Setter Operator, you will be required to set and operate CNC machines to produce a range of components from a variety of raw materials including stainless steel and aluminium, ensuring all components conform to the engineering drawings.
  • Perform efficient setting and operating of the CNC machines, achieving or improving upon planned standard times and quality levels through program improvements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to ensure optimal programs are created and products are produced as effectively as possible to the required quality standards.
  • Use a range of measuring equipment together with working knowledge of inspection procedures.
  • Undertake self-inspection and inspection of others' work with some plotting of statistical process control (SPC) data.
  • Work with a range of materials including mild steel, nylon, aluminium, stainless steels and occasional use of exotic materials (e.g. Duplex).
  • Work using imperial and metric measurements.
  • Work as part of a machine shop team and interfacing with production control, design and production supervision.
  • Undertake material handling as required loading, unloading and manoeuvring materials and finishing components.
  • Support the training of apprentices and trainees.
  • Work in a safe manner; driving positive behaviour and leading by example with regard to the company's health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Carry out any other responsibilities not listed above as may reasonably be expected.

The Person

  • You will be time served (or possess other equivalent qualifications) with similar previous experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing organisation.
  • You must have experience of setting and operating bar fed and chucking type CNC lathes.
  • Experience of sliding head machines is advantageous.
  • Programming experience on Fanuc is essential and DMG Mori Cincom is highly desirable.
  • You will have a flexible approach to work activities; including operation of multiple machines and working shifts and overtime as required to meet production needs.
  • It is essential you have a working knowledge of inspection procedures and are able to use a range of measuring equipment.
  • You will demonstrate a positive, innovative and motivated approach to your work combined with the ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, using strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • You should also have an appreciation of quality improvement techniques and principles.

These positions will be on a full time, permanent basis working a 38.75 hour week on a two shift rotation with shift allowance.
