The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing across direct and indirect spend categories, with a focus on the purchasing of raw materials and management of a diverse supplier base. The role will be office based, reporting to a purchasing manager and is an ideal position for those with a background in purchasing and looking for their next long-term career move.
The job you will do:
- Daily management of raw material and packaging purchase orders to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
- Analysis and interpretation of MRP information to react to changes in demand.
- Daily communication with production staff and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of critical raw materials.
- Communication of critical supplier-related information to customer-facing staff.
- Updating purchasing and supplier information records.
- Analysis of vendor performance, including tracking of non-conforming material deliveries.
- Working closely with Commercial Divisional Heads and R&D.
- Ensuring quality supply and avoiding supplier dependence.
- Monitoring product sage.
- Monthly/Yearly New Supplier Approvals.
- Price List maintenance.
- Undertake project-based work for specific business strategies & initiatives.
About you:
- Ideally you will be CIPS qualified, but this is not essential.
- You will be from a manufacturing or engineering background.
- Experience with direct and indirect purchasing.
- Expert skills on MRP are essential.
- Experience of purchasing raw materials would be advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
