Our client is a specialist in their industry and is looking to recruit a permanent Mould Shop Manager. This is an outstanding opportunity for a strong leader who has an excellent injection moulding background.
The Mould Shop Manager is accountable for all product and tooling processes associated with the manufacture of injection moulded components produced from PVC, TPE, GFPA, PA, SEBS, EPDM and FKM. The role leads Production and Production Engineering teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality products are manufactured in line with customer requirements, Quality Standards and the QHSE Policy.
The Mould Shop Manager is responsible for:
- Technical excellence, operational performance and QHSE compliance across three sites.
- Ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective manufacture of injection moulded products.
- Maintaining high standards of quality and compliance in line with QHSE policy.
- Leading and developing high performing production and engineering teams.
- Optimising tooling, cycle times and manufacturing capability.
- Driving continuous improvement across all mould shop operations.
- Identifying and sourcing tool makers for the manufacture of new tools.
- Collaborating with tool makers on new projects to identify and mitigate risks to cycle time and quality.
- Attending and evaluating trials of new tools to assess performance, function and specification.
- Reporting tooling issues and recommending effective technical solutions.
- Acting as the company’s technical expert on moulding techniques and best practice.
- Leading new mould sampling and validation processes.
- Monitoring production performance and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Ensuring cost control and efficiency targets are achieved.
- Fostering a strong team culture aligned with company values.
- Ensuring employees receive appropriate training, instruction and guidance.
- Developing capability within Production and Engineering teams.
- Championing continuous improvement and innovation.
- Driving accountability, performance and engagement across the function.
- Ensuring products meet customer requirements and Quality Standards.
- Maintaining compliance with the QHSE Policy across three sites.
- Monitoring QHSE effectiveness and implementing remedial actions where required.
- Promoting a strong, proactive and open QHSE culture.
- Leading regular reviews of QHSE standards and performance.
About You:
- Good standard of general education (desirable to hold a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline).
- 5 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years at senior level.
- Experience working with QHSE standards.
- Background in engineering discipline (e.g. time served, production engineering, technical design).
- Injection moulding techniques, technical knowledge of plastic engineering moulding machines.
- Experience in new mould sampling and validation.
- Strong understanding of moulding processes and methods.
- Ability to identify and drive continual improvement.
- Broader understanding of engineering principles.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Solutions-focused with effective problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset.
- Experience leading multi-site operations.
