MTrec Technical are proudly representing a leading engineering and manufacturing business based in Sunderland, as they seek to appoint an experienced Maintenance Engineer to their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, providing hands‑on engineering support across all departments. You'll play a vital role in maximising equipment performance, supporting continuous improvement projects, and contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of site operations.
The Job You Will Do:
- Provide emergency breakdown support to production machinery and equipment
- Conduct regular planned maintenance as per the maintenance schedule
- Support the UK Engineering Manager with engineering projects, including design, specification, purchasing, and installation
- Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs across a wide range of production and support equipment
- Monitor equipment performance, identifying and resolving recurring issues
- Maintain accurate records for all maintenance activities
- Assist with external contractors and service engineers, ensuring adherence to safety standards
- Ensure all work aligns with company Health & Safety, ISO 14001, and BRC/AIB compliance standards
- Take part in initiatives to improve downtime, efficiency, health and safety, and hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organised and hazard‑free work environment
About You:
- HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred)
- Recognised time‑served apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance
- NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Operations or equivalent
- Proven maintenance experience in a factory/manufacturing environment (essential)
- Post‑apprenticeship experience in a similar role (desirable)
- Knowledge of Motors, drives, PLCs, gearboxes, transmissions
- Strong team player with proactive attitude
- Excellent initiative and problem‑solving skills
- Able to prioritise and adapt to changing schedules
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communicator across all levels and departments
