MTrec Commercial are proudly representing our industry leading client on their search to appoint an experienced CPC Transport Manager on a full time and permanent basis. The CPC Transport Manager will drive the company’s transport focused activities in line with strategic and operational objectives. The individual holding the position will play the leading role in continually developing this aspect of the business. This person will oversee all transport activity and will ensure the efficient and safe movement of goods, compliance with regulations, and effective management of fleet and drivers.
Key responsibilities:
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure all vehicles are regularly serviced, inspected, and repairs are completed to maintain roadworthiness.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage a transport team, providing instruction, guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Driver Management: Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they hold valid licenses and adhere to company policies.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with all transportation regulations, including drivers' hours and safety standards.
- Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and other relevant data.
- Operational Efficiency: Manage transportation budgets, optimise routes, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Safety Policies: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Customer Service: Coordinate with clients to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Ensures Health and Safety, Environmental and Operator's Licence compliance, whilst delivering best in class customer service, measured against business KPIs for Safety, Service and Profitability.
- Provides creative, flexible, tenacious, diplomatic and consistent leadership to develop the Transport team.
- Understands and leverages the company’s operating systems and communication devices, ensuring that all reporting staff are using the systems and devices correctly and in full, to the benefit of the operation.
- Oversees cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, increase margin whilst meeting budget as a minimum.
- Deploys appropriate controls and procedures to effectively and efficiently manage all aspects of customer service and communication.
- Champions a ’customer first’ approach.
- Understands and appreciates customer requirements and quality standards.
- Engages with internal and external customers to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Is the escalation point and authority for commercial vehicle and other vehicle maintenance and transport compliance.
- Maintains an excellent working knowledge of, and works proactively and in accordance with, all current and anticipated legislative requirements and best practice relevant to the transport industry.
Qualifications:
- International Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage.
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and optimise operational costs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management software.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Customer, people and results driven.
- Works logically and systematically to solve problems, make decisions and think laterally and flexibly with the ability to manage sustainable change.
- Commercially astute, analytical with a high degree of numeracy.
- IT literate and able to leverage software and hardware platforms to advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Maintains a positive attitude to continued learning and growth.
