MTrec Commercial are currently representing our prestigious client on their search to appoint an experienced Assistant Transport Manager to join their team on a full time and permanent basis.

You will be providing support on the day to day running of the company’s transport operations, ensuring the vehicles are road worthy and that drivers comply with traffic and drivers’ hours rules.

The Role you will be doing;

To effectively and continuously help manage the transport activities required under the company’s Operators Licence safely and compliantly.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and that all loads are strapped and secure.
  • Ensure we comply with our O License responsibilities
  • Ensure vehicles and trailers follow their scheduled servicing and maintenance program.
  • Meet daily sales target per truck, ensuring everything is loaded outbound and backloaded effectively. Endeavor to plan day 1 for day 3.
  • Manage drivers times and ensure correct routes are taken. Monitor using Samsara tracking system.
  • Maintain and manage accurate administrative records including the TOPS system, traffic boards and Asset Go.
  • Develop existing and new customer relationships. Look to source loads direct from customers where possible.
  • Provide proactive support and effective communication to other departments where needed.
  • Make sure loads reach their destination safely, on time and in the most cost effective way, minimizing downtime and drivers working hours.

About you;

  • Previous experience in a transport leadership role.
  • General haulage experience is required
  • 1 year transport planning experience is required
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and complete them efficiently
  • Be able to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced, high pressured environment and multi-task
