The Job you will do:
- Act as the primary HSE lead on site, visible and approachable to all staff.
- Regularly attend operational areas, sites, and workshops to observe work practices. Lead by example, demonstrating safe behaviours and challenging unsafe acts.
- Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and frontline employees.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Carry out and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work. Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety tours, following up on actions.
- Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Deliver and coordinate HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
- Coach managers and supervisors on their HSE responsibilities. Support employees with practical safety advice and problem-solving.
- Promote employee involvement in HSE initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Oversee environmental compliance, including waste, emissions, and resource management.
- Support initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability.
- Ensure environmental risks are identified, controlled, and monitored.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Monitor performance using KPIs, inspections, and audits.
- Drive continuous improvement through practical, workable solutions.
- Prepare HSE reports for senior management, including trends and recommendations.
- Manage HSE requirements for contractors and visitors.
- Review contractor risk assessments and method statements.
- Monitor contractor activities on site to ensure compliance.
About you:
- You must hold a NEBOSH equivalent qualification.
- You will also be required to hold a membership with relevant professional bodies - IOSH etc.
