MTrec Commercial are supporting their long-term Newcastle-based professional services client with the recruitment of an experienced Senior Motor Fraud Claims Handler.

As a senior member of the team, you'll play a key role in identifying opportunities to enhance our fraud strategy, improve referral quality, and support the continuous development of our counter-fraud capability.

What You'll Be Doing.

  • Managing a portfolio of up to 150 fraud investigation claims.
  • Reviewing and triaging fraud referrals, identifying the most appropriate investigation strategy from the outset.
  • Analysing intelligence and evidence to drive effective, proportionate investigations and achieve the correct claims outcome.
  • Managing claims proactively from cradle to grave, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, service standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying and preventing claims leakage while maximising savings, repudiations, and fraud prevention opportunities.
  • Accurately recording and evidencing all indemnity and claims savings achieved.
  • Ensuring compliance with Consumer Duty, FCA requirements, and company policies.
  • Delivering fair and professional customer outcomes while maintaining a strong fraud detection mindset.
  • Liaising with policyholders, third parties, solicitors, investigators, and other external stakeholders.
  • Providing clear, concise, and targeted instructions to suppliers and investigation partners.
  • Supporting the development of the team by sharing knowledge, identifying trends, and contributing ideas to improve processes, controls, and referral quality.

About You.

Proven experience handling fraud investigations within a motor insurance claims environment.

Strong technical knowledge across: Indemnity, Liability, Credit hire, Property damage, First-party claims, Personal injury claims.

Excellent investigation, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Strong understanding of fraud indicators, intelligence-led investigations, and proportionate claims handling.

Effective Claims management skills, with a disciplined approach to reserving, diary management, and customer communication.

Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage your own SLAs.

Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while protecting the business from fraud risk.

Experience using fraud intelligence and investigative tools, including the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB).

Experience reviewing IFB alerts, submitting intelligence, and identifying exposure through industry fraud databases.

Knowledge of counter-fraud best practice, emerging fraud trends, and industry intelligence sharing initiatives
