The Company you will be working with; MTrec Commercial are proudly representing our industry leading client on their search to appoint an experienced Shipping Manager on a full time, permanent basis. The Role you will be doing; The Shipping Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing end-to-end movement of goods from origin through to final delivery at the customer or project job site. The role involved managing multimodal transportation, including road, sea, rail and air freight where required; booking cargo directly with shipping and freight carriers; coordinating international suppliers, agents and customers; managing shipping documentation; and ensuring deliveries arrive safely, on time and in accordance with requirements. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing complex international shipments, communicating across different countries and time zones, and resolving logistical issues quickly to maintain project schedules. Key Responsibilities; 1. Shipping & Transport Planning * Plan and coordinate end-to-end international shipments from supplier or warehouse through to final job-site delivery. * Select and coordinate appropriate transport modes including; Ocean Freight, Road Transportation, Rail Freight, Airfreight, Multimodal and combines transport solutions. * Identify potential delays or logistical risks and implement contingency plans. 1. Vessel & Carrier Booking; * Book cargo directly with shipping lines, carriers, freight forwarders and transport providers. * Obtain and compare freight rates and service options * Negotiate rates, capacity and service levels where appropriate/ * Manage vessel schedules, sailing dates, transit times and container availability. * Coordinate container bookings, including, FCL, LCL Breakbulk and project cargo where applicable. * Ensure bookings are made within required shipping and project deadlines. * Maintain strong working relationships with shipping lines, carriers and logistics providers. 1. International Communication * Communicate daily with overseas suppliers, customers, agents, carriers and logistics partners. * Coordinate activities across different countries and time zones. * Provide clear shipment instructions and delivery requirements to international partners. * Manage communication during delays, changes, customs issues or other operational disruptions. * Provide regular shipment statues updates to internal stakeholders and customers. 1. Job-Site Delivery & Project Logistics Coordinate final delivery from port, terminal, warehouse or distribution centre to the project job site. Liaise with site managers and project teams to confirm delivery requirements. Arrange delivery appointments, site access, unloading requirements and delivery windows. Ensure vehicles and transport equipment are suitable for the site and cargo. Coordinate special transport requirements, including abnormal loads, heavy or oversized cargo where applicable. Ensure deliveries are made in accordance with site health, safety and security requirements. Resolve delivery issues promptly to minimise disruption to site operations. Documentation & Compliance Prepare, check and manage shipping documentation including; Commercial invoices, Packing lists, Bills of lading, Certificate of origin, Customs documentation, Import/Export documentation, Dangerous good documentation where applicable. Ensure shipping documentation is accurate, complete and issues with required deadlines. Work with customs brokers and clearance agents to facilitate smooth import and export processes. Ensure shipments comply with applicable international trade, customs and transport regulations. Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation. Shipment Tracking & Reporting Track shipments from booking through to final delivery. Maintain accurate shipment schedules and logistics trackers. Monitor vessel departures, arrivals, transhipments and delivery milestones. Provide regular reports on shipment status, delays, costs and expectations. Escalate potential delays or cost issues at the earliest opportunity. Maintain records of freight costs and support logistic cost analysis. Cost & Supplier Management Obtain freight quotations and assess transport options. Monitor shipping and transportation costs against budgets. Review carrier and freight-forwarder performance. Challenge additional charges and investigate discrepancies in freight invoices. Support negotiations with carriers, freight forwarders and transport suppliers. About You; Proven experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding or international supply chain management. Experience in multimodal international shipments. Experience booking cargo with shipping lines and/or freight carriers. Strong knowledge of ocean freight and containerised shipping. Experience coordinating road transport from ports and final delivery locations. Experience dealing with international suppliers, customers and logistics partners. Experience managing shipments through to final job-site delivery. Strong understanding of shipping and customs documentation. Experience managing multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and communication skills
