MTrec Commercial are proudly representing our industry-leading client in their search to appoint an experienced CPC Transport Manager on a full-time and permanent basis. The CPC Transport Manager will drive the company's transport-focused activities in line with strategic and operational objectives. This person will oversee all transport activity and ensure the efficient and safe movement of goods, compliance with regulations, and effective management of fleet and drivers.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage a transport team, providing instruction, guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Driver Management: Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they hold valid licenses and adhere to company policies. Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, and other relevant data.
  • Safety Policies: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Coordinate with clients to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  • Provide creative, flexible, tenacious, diplomatic, and consistent leadership to develop the Transport team.
  • Oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and increase margin whilst meeting budget as a minimum.
  • Understand and appreciate customer requirements and quality standards. Act as the escalation point and authority for commercial vehicle and other vehicle maintenance and transport compliance.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of, and work proactively and in accordance with, all current and anticipated legislative requirements and best practices relevant to the transport industry.
  • Ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Oversee vehicle management, including liaison with the HGV Workshop Manager to facilitate safe vehicle operation. Ensure all vehicles/trailers are tested, taxed, insured, and fitted with trackers. The same applies when vehicles/trailers are removed from the fleet. Ensure instructions are passed to the accounts department in a timely manner via email.
  • Plan driver resource strategically, tactically, and operationally to utilise the fleet to its maximum capacity, fully utilising software and hardware platforms.
  • Work closely with the warehouse team and other key stakeholders to ensure that all logistics solutions are fully integrated and designed to improve customer service.
  • Consistently promote and adhere to Company policy, procedure, and legislation, including but not limited to health and safety.
  • From time to time, work on ad-hoc projects and undertake other reasonable duties as required by senior management.
  • Proven experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software.
  • IT literate and able to leverage software and hardware platforms to advantage.
