The Company you will be working for:
Our client is an established and successful company based in Newton Aycliffe. They are currently looking for an Estimator to join their team on a permanent basis. If you are interested and meet the person specification of the job role, please apply below.
The Role you will be doing:
- Prepare accurate and timely estimates for custom manufacturing and fabrication projects
- Interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and BOMs to identify scope and cost drivers
- Use and improve our Excel/VBA-based quoting templates (full training provided)
- Consult clients on requirements and conduct occasional site visits
- Apply engineering judgment to estimate production hours and material costs
- Document and improve the quoting process into a repeatable manual/checklist
- Follow up on quotes and post-delivery feedback to support continuous improvement
- Maintain and update the customer CRM/Quote Control Sheet
- Collaborate with production, design, and engineering teams to confirm project feasibility
- Support recruitment and mentoring of a future apprentice estimator
About you:
- Minimum 5 years experience in bespoke manufacturing or fabrication estimating
- Strong engineering knowledge with the ability to assess production feasibility
- High proficiency in Excel (including formulas); VBA familiarity is a plus
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication specs
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation ability
- Effective communication and documentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Capable of self-managing workload and meeting deadlines under pressure
- Team player with mentoring potential
