MTM Engineering is offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and ambitious Higher Level Apprentice with a passion for Accounting to join our dynamic Finance team. This apprenticeship provides an excellent first step in your accounting career, giving you the chance to develop core financial skills while contributing to the operations of a leading electrical engineering company working across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
As an Accounting Technician Apprentice at MTM Engineering, you will learn to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting and administrative activities. You will develop essential skills in bookkeeping, financial reporting, account reconciliation, supplier and customer management, and the use of accounting software. This apprenticeship will give you a strong foundation in financial processes, internal controls, credit management and business administration.
Responsibilities:
- Performing bookkeeping tasks such as accounts payable and receivable, processing supplier invoices and inputting data into accounting software.
- Following up on outstanding debtor balances in line with company credit terms.
- Reconciling invoices against supplier monthly statements and investigating any inconsistencies.
- Completing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Providing administrative support to senior members of the Finance team, with opportunities to gain exposure to more advanced tasks as the company expands into new regions and acquires new entities.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Organise assigned workload to suit priorities as agreed with the MTM Engineering team.
- Complete allocated tasks within agreed timelines.
- Assist with the specification and procurement of electrical equipment to match client and supplier requirements.
- Contribute to team discussions on issues identified and support collaborative problem solving.
