As a Stores Person, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and organised operation of the company’s materials and equipment on a live construction site. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock control, supporting inventory and purchasing processes and ensuring that all electrical materials, tools and equipment are stored securely and readily available to support ongoing installation works. This role is essential in enabling project teams to access the right materials at the right time, contributing to the smooth delivery of works across multiple site areas, with the potential to grow into a Stores Manager position over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an accurate, up to date inventory of all electrical materials, tools and equipment.
- Track stock movement, carry out counts and audits and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure deliveries match purchase orders and specifications.
- Coordinate with procurement on stock levels and purchase orders and work with suppliers on delivery schedules, site access and any issues.
- Oversee the safe, organised storage of materials, tools and equipment including hazardous or specialised items.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well organised stores area.
- Track plant usage, monitor calibration dates, test inbound tools and equipment, record or repair defects and carry out routine scheduled maintenance on all tools and plant.
- Check and maintain site safety equipment such as PPE and fire extinguishers.
- Ensure all stores activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations and company procedures.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, supervisors and site staff to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Act as the point of contact for stores related queries and coordinate with suppliers and internal teams.
Essential Requirements
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Familiarity with Stock Control and Inventory Management systems.
- Basic knowledge of computer use such as the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Previous experience in a Stores or Logistics role highly beneficial.
- Full, clean driver’s licence.
- Full UK working rights (visa sponsorship will not be available).
