MTL Packaging is a UK-based flexible packaging supplier with over 15 years’ experience in films, laminates, pouches and packaging solutions for food, retail and FMCG businesses. We supply a wide range of flexible packaging products including printed and plain pouches, laminated film rolls, barrier films, lidding films, vacuum pouches, stand-up pouches, centre seal pouches, side gusseted pouches and specialist multi-layer structures. We are now looking for an experienced sales professional from the packaging industry to help us grow our customer base across the UK.

The Role

We are looking for a highly experienced and well-connected Sales Manager / Business Development Manager with a strong background in flexible packaging, films, laminates, printed pouches or related packaging products. The ideal candidate will already have contacts within food manufacturers, snack brands, FMCG companies, wholesalers, importers, contract packers and businesses using flexible packaging. This role is ideal for a mature, confident and relationship-driven sales professional who understands the packaging industry and can open doors with new customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finding and approaching new customers for MTL Packaging.
  • Using existing industry contacts to generate serious sales enquiries.
  • Selling flexible packaging products including pouches, film rolls, laminates and specialist barrier films.
  • Building relationships with food manufacturers, snack companies, FMCG brands, wholesalers and contract packers.
  • Working with the MTL team to prepare quotations, samples and product recommendations.
  • Following up leads and converting enquiries into orders.
  • Maintaining regular contact with customers and developing repeat business.
  • Representing the company professionally at customer meetings, trade visits and industry events.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous sales experience in the flexible packaging industry.
  • Existing contacts with packaging buyers, food manufacturers or FMCG companies.
  • Good knowledge of pouches, films, laminates or printed packaging.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence in dealing with business owners, buyers and production managers.
  • Ability to work independently and generate new business.
  • A professional, mature and trustworthy approach.
  • Good understanding of customer needs, pricing, lead times and repeat-order sales.
  • A proven record of bringing in new customers.
