A great opportunity for a Digital Forensics Desktop & Software Administrator. Enforcement and Market Oversight (EMO) has the responsibility for market monitoring; delivery of the functions of Listing Transactions; and for the investigation and prosecution of misconduct using the whole spectrum of criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and remedies against firms and individuals. The Digital Forensics Unit (DFU) provides comprehensive digital evidence services to Enforcement and Market Oversight, providing strategic forensic investigative techniques for the acquisition, preservation, recovery, and presentation of digital evidence. The Quality Team provides technical support to the DFU, undertaken technical management and provide structure around process and procedure with problem-solving capabilities.
What will you be doing?
- Work with the Network and systems manager to ensure smooth running of the Digital Forensics support infrastructure.
- Write scripts and produce technical code to support and maintain bespoke software with a view to automate technologies.
- Work with the Quality Management Team to support testing and validation of forensic tools, software, and hardware in line with the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice and ISO 17025 and maintain software version continuity across the estate.
- Provide face to face technical support to the end users of the DFU and the equipment, troubleshoot, resolve, and report on hardware and software issues.
- Take ownership of the patching process in the environment and ensure smooth running of specific systems that support a Digital Forensic Unit and its network.
- Undertake risk assessments and audits to ensure systems/processes/equipment are fit for purpose and highlight improvement gaps, seek continuous improvement solutions to improve efficiencies and productivity.
Experience required:
- Experience of troubleshooting fundamental network protocols and hardware and software issues with desktops.
- Experience in creating PowerShell scripts and working in a testing environment.
- Experience of working with various stakeholders and end users with a focus on user experience and delivery.
- Graduate level education (or equivalent experience) in Computing, Computer Science, or equivalent subject.
- Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery.
- Experience in creating and maintaining PowerShell scripts and programming languages.
- Knowledge of or experience in Microsoft deployment technologies, with a familiarity with common hashing algorithms, including their benefits and drawbacks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information to non-technical stakeholders as well as prioritising the needs and satisfaction of the end users when providing technical support.
- Knowledge of Digital Forensics, the Forensic Science Regulator and ISO 17025.
- Ensuring that projects or products are completed successfully.
