Are you ready to shape the future of turbine component manufacturing? The High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC), a cutting-edge collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Project Engineer to join our dynamic team.
About the RoleAs a Project Engineer at HTRC, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, working with state-of-the-art equipment in investment casting, machining, and advanced metrology. You’ll lead projects that design and manufacture turbine components, develop novel manufacturing techniques, and drive cost reduction and yield improvement.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll:
- Translate customer requirements into robust manufacturing methods.
- Manage technical packages, planning, risk, and cost.
- Collaborate with designers, researchers, and operations teams.
- Ensure validation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Degree qualified or has equivalent technical experience.
- Skilled in manufacturing and component engineering principles.
- Experienced in investment casting and/or machining of turbine components.
- Proficient in CAD, CAM, tooling design, and inspection methods.
- A proactive team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in research environments and Design for Manufacture (DfM) is highly desirable.
