About The Role
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional food service experiences? The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking a Food & Beverage Services Assistant to support our Catering and Events operations. You’ll play a key role in preparing, presenting, and serving food and beverages to colleagues, apprentices, members, and visitors—especially within our MTC and AMTC restaurant service counters.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks with speed and courtesy
- Operate EPoS systems for accurate transactions
- Support stock management, portion control, and waste reduction
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all service areas
- Assist with food safety documentation (HACCP), cleaning schedules, and stock takes
- Collaborate with the wider Catering and Events team, especially during large events
- Provide support for event catering and dishwashing as needed
- Advise the Head Chef on operational issues
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 2 years in a similar role
- Level 2 Food Safety & Allergen Awareness
- Understanding of HACCP, COSHH, EPoS systems, and dietary requirements
- Familiarity with food merchandising and kitchen equipment
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage time effectively
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Team player with a willingness to learn and support off-site events
- Physically fit with good manual handling skills
